ID card management

Identity verification specialist TSSI has upgraded the enVision ID card production and management system used by Westland Helicopters at its manufacturing facility in Yeovil, Somerset. The new system – which makes use of SQL Server technology – is “faster, easier to use and has greater storage capacity than the previous database used by Westland.”

The nature of its work, of course, means that security at Westland is paramount. As the home of a major defence contractor, the movements of all persons on site – be they staff, contractors or visitors – have to be tracked 24-7. TSSI’s enVision functionality provides the solution by going far beyond the production of photographic ID cards.

The database has been enhanced to integrate considerably more personal and departmental information than is usual in standard access control systems. Linked directly to TSSI’s enGuard access control system, the enVision set-up allows for the maintenance of over 16,000 records, with all data stored centrally.

The additional storage capacity will also allow Westland’s security team to expand the system at any point in the future as and when the need arises.
