The runners up

Babtie Group
The Byre Theatre in St Andrews is constructed on a very constrained site, with building restrictions affecting the design horizontally and vertically. Babtie's innovative approach includes a chiller/ice bank arrangement which charges during the day and works during performances. The supply ventilation is also built into the fabric of the slab. Field Systems Designs
The challenge faced by Field Systems Designs was to install modern efficient lighting systems within each of the Dartford east and west Tunnels, while improving overall safety by providing a high level of fire and smoke resistance. It solved the challenge by using a fleet of seven modified double decker buses which gave workers a long stable working platform, loading space, and on board messing. Baltimore Aircoil
Baltimore Aircoil introduced a system which combines both dry and wet cooling in a single product. The BAC HXI dry/wet closed circuit cooling tower has three operating modes: dry, adiabatic and wet. It delivers low condenser cooling water temperatures all year round. And the unit uses water only as needed, with savings of up to 70% compared to conventional systems. Waterloo Air Management
Over the past four years Waterloo has carried out a fundamental strategic review of operations. The result has been a dramatic transformation of the business from a traditional arms-length supplier of hvac equipment to the construction industry, to a new style of organisation, totally focused on adding value to partner customers through effective management of the supply chain.
