The 2002 ECA Edmundson Award has gone to Tony White, 24, who works for Southern Electric Contracting in Lockleaze, Bristol
Douglas McNair, MD of Edmundson Electrical announced White's achievement at a presentation lunch. The company sponsors the award in partnership with the ECA. To win the award, White had first to gain a high grade in his City & Guilds examination for electrical work and a mark above 95% in the industry skills test. He then faced a regional interview, being selected from this as one of nine candidates to appear before a final judging panel in London.
White wins £1000 and a week's trip to Italy as a guest of Pirelli Cables. The other apprentices who were successful in reaching the final stages of the Apprentice of the Year competition will receive their awards at local presentations.
