Consultant Parsons Brinckerhoff is providing EMCOR Rail with mechanical and electrical services design on the £5.2 billion Channel Tunnel Rail Link Project (CTRL).
Parsons Brinckerhoff, led by project director Dennis Cross, is part of an integrated EMCOR Rail/Rail Link Engineering project team. Cross says: "We are very pleased to have three teams working together to provide EMCOR Rail a multi-disciplinary service. Two of our teams will undertake the design: one will design the tunnel ventilation system and the second team will design all of the building services for the shafts, stairwells, portals, and equipment rooms."

CTRL Section 2 includes almost 20 km of tunnels underneath London. They provide high-speed access to the refurbished and extended St Pancras station, via new stations at Ebbsfleet and Stratford. The twin bore tunnels include five ventilation shafts and six portals, all with ventilation fan arrangements, over a hundred equipment rooms and many miles of cabling. The contract was awarded to EMCOR Rail in July of this year.
