Osram, like other member firms of the Lighting Industry Federation (LIF), is calling for the Inland Revenue to relax its requirements for enhanced capital allowances in respect of energy efficient lighting.
Currently the Inland Revenue allows enhanced capital allowances only for lighting in specific applications, such as a new control room or retail display, but not for general lighting. Representations are being made by the LIF to get this changed.

Siegmar Proebstl, Osram’s UK managing director believes that companies should be encouraged to install energy efficient lighting to maintain the UK’s position as one of the most energy efficiency minded countries.

Developments in light source technologies were demonstrated at the opening of the Osram Light Experience. The showroom is based around six zones, each highlighting a different light source technology – from tungsten halogen, fluorescent and high intensity discharge to photo optics and new technologies like leds and electrodeless fluorescents.

The Osram Light Experience is open to electrical contractors and is based at Osram House, Waterside Drive, Langley, Berkshire.
