£50m mixed use scheme overlooking the proposed Olympic park in Stratford is given green light by Newham Council.

Newham Council has given planning consent to a £50m mixed-use development overlooking the proposed Olympic park in Stratford, East London.

The joint venture project between Royal Bank of Scotland and Telford Homes has been designed by architect Stock Woolstencroft and will feature 249 apartments in a 18-storey tower and two other four and eight-storey buildings.

Commenting on the scheme in Warton Road the GLA said: “The architects have sensitively applied a vibrant palette of materials to deliver a colourful contemporary block, which will be a positive addition to the street cape and create a strong identity for the area. The design of the public realm has been pivotal in developing this quality scheme.”

The scheme will overlook a new linear park running alongside a tributary of the River Lea. The ground and first floor will feature retail and new studios while above there will be one, two and three-bed flats, 35% of which will be affordable.
