The latest 124-unit phase of Wimpey’s Staiths South Bank development in Gateshead continues the project’s reputation for variety. It includes this block of 72 apartments, which has brick, render, cedar and rainscreen cladding.
The scheme is being co-designed by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway, founders of the Red or Dead clothes brand, who have promised to improve on standardised housing design. The Hemingways are working with architect IDPartnership Northern on a site beside the Tyne, which will have 778 apartments and houses.
