Four giant waterfalls, designed by Danish artist Olafur Eliasson, are to be installed in New York later this month.

The $15m (£7.7m) New York City Waterfalls water features, commissioned by the city’s Public Art Fund, will be installed at sites along the waterfront in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Governors Island until mid-October. Contractor Tishman is using scaffolding to build the waterfalls, which range from 90ft to 120ft in height and will be lit up at night. Eliasson’s past work includes last year’s Serpentine Gallery Pavilion and The Weather Project at Tate Modern in 2003.
