Plans for an underwater museum in Alexandria have been given the go-ahead by the Egyptian government
Designed by the French architect Jean Rougerie, the £98m project would create an underwater fibreglass tunnel to allow visitors to view the sunken remains of Cleopatra’s palace. A detailed technical survey will begin next month with construction set to begin in 2010 if funding is secured.
