Scottish building acoustics specialist becomes part of £160m-turnover international technical services consulting group

Scottish environmental and buildings acoustics specialist Hamilton & McGregor has joined international technical services consultant Faber Maunsell, part of the AECOM group.

Hamilton & McGregor chief Dr Bernadette McKell becomes a director at Faber Maunsell, which has 3,000 staff in 30 offices across Europe and an annual turnover of £160m.

McKell said: “This merger will greatly enhance the service and capability we presently offer to clients in Scotland and further afield. The team is looking forward to the new challenges and greater opportunities offered by joining Faber Maunsell | AECOM.”

Graham Howells, managing director of environment at Faber Maunsell, which specialises in buildings, transport and environmental services, said “Hamilton & McGregor will considerably enhance our reputation in acoustics and make us one of the leading consultancies in the UK with over 35 technical staff.”

Projects undertaken by Hamilton & McGregor in recent years include providing noise impact assessment for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route and acting as consultant for the European Noise Directive.
