Long-term focus rewarded with £75m highways deal in the East Midlands.

The AMScott partnership, a joint venture between support services and construction group Alfred McAlpine and Scott Wilson, has won a £75m contract extension to run a range of highway management services in the East Midlands, including the M1 and the A1. Initially awarded in 2002, the contract has been extended for a further three years – the maximum allowed under the original terms of the deal.

Under the terms of the contract Alfred McAlpine will maintain the highways, and co-ordinate the work of utilities and other highway authorities.

Ian Grice, chief executive of Alfred McAlpine said: “This contract extension confirms the success of the AMScott partnership over the past three years, particularly its commitment to continuous improvement. It is also further evidence that our strategic plan to focus on securing longer term contracts and to develop existing relationships by providing excellent customer service is a sound foundation for future business growth.”
