Amec Developments has been chosen to deliver the £285m redevelopment of the Talbot Gateway area of Blackpool.

The company will work with Blackpool council and regeneration agency ReBlackpool to redevelop the 12.8ha area in the north of the town.

The plans for the outline planning application include retail, leisure, commercial, and residential space with a public square and transport links. Also included are council offices, a courthouse, two hotels, a cinema and a 70,000ft2 supermarket.

Mike Horner, Amec’s regional director, said: “Blackpool needs a step up in quality and Talbot Gateway will provide this as a well-designed urban quarter.”

If permission is granted, work will start in 2008.
