Animal rights protesters are set to target glass maker Pilkington after claiming that it has made financial donations to Oxford University, the client on the testing laboratory.

Protest group Speak has put Pilkington on a list of donors to Oxford University. The move comes after Thames Valley Police revealed it was working with the university to step up security measures.

Others targeted by protesters include the Royal Academy of Engineering and Thames Water.

Speak maintains it is a peaceful protest organisation but the information it publishes is made available to the Animal Liberation Front. This week the ALF claimed responsibility for letters sent to the neighbours of directors of GlaxoSmithKline accusing the men of being rapists. GSK is a customer of Huntingdon Life Sciences.
