Arup has been appointed engineer on a £30m stadium planned for Bath’s rugby union team.

The 18,000 seat ground has been designed by Grimshaw and will replace the club’s existing 14,500 capacity Rec ground (pictured) where the club has been based since 1894.

A planning application is due to be submitted to Bath and North East Somerset council by the winter.

Called Stadium for Bath, the scheme has not yet appointed a main contractor or outlined a timetable of when it hopes to start and complete building work.
