The consultant provided sustainability and LEED certification expertise to the project to build the 208,000ft2 office development and the firm’s sister business Faithful + Gould provided programme management on the project.

The new facility has a green roof which can accommodate up to 500 people for conferences. It also uses highly efficient low-flow water fixtures throughout the building.

Vince Briones, Atkins’ LEED consultant for the project, said: “GSK wanted more than a building; they wanted to create a dynamic, invigorating, collaborative, and environmentally friendly workplace for the 21st century… The energy saving measures incorporated into the GSK building design add up to an estimated 30 percent reduction in annual energy costs.”
