Road win follows £175m hotel contract awarded to Gammon last week.

Balfour Beatty’s Gammon joint venture has won a £33m road contract in Hong Kong.

The eight-year contract is for the management and maintenance of the high-speed roads in New Territories East and Hong Kong Island. It comprises maintenance of roads, associated slopes, structures, street furniture, cleaning and other improvement works.

Balfour Beatty chief executive, Ian Tyler, said: “This contract offers Gammon an excellent opportunity to work in partnership with the Hong Kong Highways Department to deliver value-added highway maintenance services and draws on the well-established expertise which we have developed in the UK through our specialist subsidiary, RCS."

Balfour Beatty and Jardine Matheson each have a 50% share in Gammon, an engineer and contractor. Last week Gammon won a £175m construction contract for a new hotel in Macau.
