Firm had racked up cumulative losses of £40m in 2023 and 2024
The UK building arm of Dutch giant Royal Bam returned to the black last year after the firm racked up more than £40m of losses in the two years beforehand.
In accounts filed at Companies House, Bam Construct posted a pre-tax profit of £18.4m last year on turnover up 9% to £850m.
In a note accompanying the accounts, the firm said: “After a couple of years of legacy projects impacting the overall performance, 2025 saw an expected return to profitability due to the strength of the underlying business.”

It added that “the business continued its active management of [Building Safety Act] risk and has been able to mitigate potential future risk, strengthening its balance sheet against issues prevalent across the industry”.
It said the business had relatively low exposure to the risk but its work “ensures that the business was protected against future financial impact”.
Cash at the year-end was up 13% to £35m but the firm’s order book was down 12% to £771m, although it said it had £903m of work at preferred bidder stage at the end of last year.
In the spring, Bam appointed Brian Briggs as its new London director replacing Rod Stiles who left last year. Briggs, who spent eight years at Lendlease, has joined from Saudi developer Qiddiya.
