Firm shrugs off falls and says outlook remains positive
Margins at Bam Nuttall fell to just under 4% last year after the firm’s pre-tax profit slipped by a third to £58m.
The civils arm of Bam saw revenue rise 8% to £1.47bn but pre-tax profit was down 36%, cutting its industry-beating margins from 6.7% to 3.9%.

But it shrugged off the falls and added: “Notwithstanding the ongoing economic challenges, in the UK and globally, our outlook remains optimistic but cautious.”
The firm’s order book at the year-end was flat at £4.1bn with year-end cash up 6% to £153m.
The number of people at the business was up 5% to 3,686.
