Foster + Partners has won an Aga Khan Award for Architecture for this design for a university in Malaysia.

The University of Technology in Petronas is the region’s largest centre for the study of civil, mechanical, chemical and electrical engineering. Situated at Banda Seri Iskandar, 300km north of Kuala Lumpur, its crescent-shaped roofs provide shelter from heavy rainfall and intense sun. The award is given to those who have attained high standards of architectural excellence in Islamic societies.
