Morgan Sindall has beefed up the board of its regional contracting arm Bluestone as part of another reorganisation of the troubled division.
The changes come after Bluestone posted a £4m loss for the six months to 30 June and follow an unsuccessful attempt to restructure earlier this year.

Bluestone's board has increased from five to nine, with Morgan Sindall executive director Paul Whitmore becoming chairman. Bluestone managing director Chris Saxton is deputy chairman. The changes were announced to Bluestone's 2000 employees yesterday.

Whitmore, who has assumed main board responsibility for Bluestone, said the changes would ensure that the business moved in the same direction as the rest of the group.

The shake-up has also involved the regrouping of Bluestone into three regions – the North and Midlands, the South, and the South-east – along with the appointment of three managing directors. John Berry (South), Keith Watson (North and Midlands) and former Kier National managing director Graham Shennan (South-east) will sit on the Bluestone board.

Phil Brand and Brook Nolson have also joined the board as technical services director and strategic marketing director respectively.
