Former Citex facilities management boss Peter Bowe has started a consultancy aimed at reducing bid costs for PFI and public–private partnership bidders.
The Tunbridge Wells-based firm, named Bowe Watts Clargo, includes two former directors from property outsourcing group Mapeley.

Bowe, a former sales director at Citex Management Services, delayed the start of his new venture to allow the £11.5m sale of his former employer to Carillion to be completed in September.

Bowe said the firm aimed to work for PFI contractors, facilities management firms and financial backers.

"Bid costs for PFI projects are out of control right now," he said. "Bidders are finding it difficult to sustain bid teams for the long period needed. We can provide flexibility for companies from an independent source."

Bowe said the firm had picked up two contracts since its launch in September, but declined to name the clients.
