John Mulqueen has spent three years at the group
Canary Wharf Group’s chief investment officer has announced he is leaving the company after three years.
John Mulqueen joined from CBRE in August 2023 and has helped oversee a renaissance at the business district that was being written off a few years ago.
Last year the estate saw a record footfall with 72.6 million visiting while last November, US bank JP Morgan Chase announced it will build a new headquarters at the site.

In a post on LinkedIn, Mulqueen said: “Canary Wharf has evolved from a place people came to work into somewhere people choose to live, work and spend leisure time. Retail and leisure occupancy is 99%, annual visits exceed 76 million, the number of bars and restaurants have doubled.”
He added: “Canary Wharf is a place of continual evolution. Broadening its uses, community and contribution to London and the UK, while retaining what makes it one of the world’s great districts.
“I strongly believe the best times for CWG still lie ahead, and my next challenge is elsewhere. I leave CWG with a sense of pride, knowing that the business has extraordinary momentum, supported by the long-term commitment of its shareholders, the strength and dedication of its team, and customers who recognise Canary Wharf for the exceptional place it is.”
