Residential developer is accusing the Magri Group of using its name on the Candy Wharf scheme in Mile End

Candy & Candy is suing a firm of East London builders after accusing them of stealing its name.

The luxury residential developer is taking the builders, brothers Peter and Paul Magri of Magri Group, to court over a residential development entitled Candy Wharf.

Candy & Candy is now seeking an injunction to stop Magri trading on the name. In a writ the company says that the use of the name devalues the prestigious brand it has built over the past eight years. The company also wants an inquiry into the damages it has suffered and compensation.

But the Magri Group claim that there is "no likelihood of any confusion” between their 60-apartment block in Mile End, where most apartments are on sale from £250,000 to £375,000, and a Candy & Candy development.
