… But LTGDC assures it will have no impact on the development

The Dutch architect that produced Canning Town’s regeneration masterplan has called in the receivers.

Erick van Egeraat Associates, One of Europe’s most high profile architects, says cancellation of work across Europe has caused a cashflow crisis.

Law firm De Bok Roijers Gasseling was appointed by the Dutch courts after van Egeraat himself declared the Rotterdam-based practice insolvent.

The practice has about 50 projects on its books across Europe.

Lawyer Raymond De Bok said: “We are still investigating the possibility to continue some projects they are involved in, or to find a suitable partner to take over. We would sell it to them under the condition that they will finalise the building or design. No decisions have been made.”

According to Patrick Edwards, head of communications at London Thames Gateway Development Corporation “Erick van Egeraat input on Canning Town was linked to the masterplan phase of the development which was concluded some time ago. News of the company’s demise, though regrettable, will have no impact on the Canning Town development.”
