Moxon Architects structure will link new homes with city centre
Moxon Architects and Arcadis have been given the green light for a new pedestrian and cycle bridge across Cardiff’s River Taff.
Part of the council’s scheme to redevelop the Channel View Estate, the 165m-long bridge is intended to improve connectivity and encourage active travel.
The crossing will connect the Grangetown and Butetown neighbourhoods, as well as popular green spaces, The Marl and Hamadryad Park.
It will also serve up to 360 new homes on the western riverbank, connecting them to the city centre, the bay and an established Welsh school on the east.
The 6m-wide bridge will be located at the point where the river widens as it approaches Cardiff bay. With a 60m main span, it will be visible from the nearby green spaces as an S-shaped path curving in plan and elevation.
