Carillion is the leading firm in the construction sector to make a positive impact on society, according to The Sunday Times.
The construction company was ranked 33 in The Sunday Times Corporate Responsibility Index.

The index is a self-assessed survey to benchmark how firms manage, measure and report their corporate responsibility.

Four components were taken into account: corporate strategy; the integration of social responsibility; management; and performance and impact across a range of social and environmental areas.

Amec was the only other contractor in the index, placed 56.

The only housebuilder rated was Berkeley, at 94.
