Firm announced as preferred bidder on two schemes worth £380m

Carillion has been selected as preferred bidder for two contracts in the United Arab Emirates worth £380m.

The firm has been selected as the main contractor for a £225m mixed-use development on the Dubai Creek waterfront along with a £155m contract to build ‘La Mer’ at Jumeirah.

The Dubai Creek waterfront project will include retail and leisure buildings, underground and multi-storey car parks, three hotels, a mosque, museums, traditional workshops and a market.

The ‘La Mer’ at Jumeirah project involves the construction of a mixture of top-end retail and public-facility buildings, together with substantial external landscaping to create over 1km of beach-themed frontage.

Commenting, Carillion chief executive Richard Howson, said: ”We are delighted to have been selected as the preferred bidder for these two major contracts. This reflects our reputation for high-quality and reliability and we look forward to working with Meraas to deliver these prestigious projects.”
