Warrington-based housebuilder increases annual completions 16% as it targets 1,400 homes a year in the long term
Cheshire housebuilder Wain Group increased turnover and profit last year, the firm said in its latest accounts filed at Companies House.
The Warrington-based firm said revenue in the year to September 2025 was up 9% to £304m with pre-tax profit up by half to £13.5m. The firm said it completed 1,024 homes, an increase of 16% on the 880 for the previous year.
But its strategic land company made a loss of £1m, on turnover of £17.1m, compared to a £900,000 profit and £22.6m the previous year. It said this was “driven by timing differences in property disposals”.
In the accounts, which were signed off at the end of last month, Wain said the UK housing and land markets are “entering a period of renewed confidence”.
But its executive chair Will Ainscough said support from government for first-time buyers would be “enormously welcomed”.
He added: “Any well-targeted government initiative – whether through deposit assistance, enhanced lending schemes, or incentives aimed at improving affordability – would provide a meaningful boost to demand.”
Wain Group last year placed 90th in Building’s Top 150 Contractors and Housebuilders list, which ranks companies by turnover.
