Kentish Town scheme includes film studio campus alongside 1,000 homes

Architect SPPARC has unveiled proposals for Camden Film Quarter, a mixed-use scheme in Kentish Town.

Developer Yoo Capital is behind plans for sound stages, post-production suites, editing rooms and collaboration space for creative companies at a 23 acre site.

The masterplan also outlines proposals for more than 1,000 mixed tenure homes, with Yoo Capital stating that 50% of the housing would be affordable.

How the development could look when built

Two film and television schools are proposed within an on-site education hub facing a new park. This would include a new home for the London Screen Academy, a specialist sixth form college established in 2019.

Other elements of the scheme include retail, restaurants, leisure and community spaces as well as new public realm.

The masterplan also includes new cycling and pedestrian routes and a proposed bridge over the railway line linking Kentish Town to Hampstead Heath.

The vision for Camden Film Quarter was adopted by the local council in the spring. A planning application is expected later this year.

SPPARC and Yoo Capital are also working together on the £1.3 billion redevelopment of Olympia and the Saville Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, which secured planning approval in April.
