Firm project manages Dragon’s Den’s south east London community centre refurbishment scheme
Confluence has helped the five Dragon’s Den entrepreneurs with the task of refurbishing a rundown community centre in south east London in aid of Children in Need.
The TV celebrities were asked to refurbish the Middle Park Community Centre in Eltham in just 72 hours.
Confluence stepped in to project manage the scheme which involved installing a new roof, the construction of a recording studio and the complete refurbishment of the existing toilets and kitchen.
The firm had to also support the TV production team to ensure they got the program they wanted while coordinating over 40 contractors and 20 volunteers all within the 450m2 site.
Paul Ibson, project manager, said: “Although the project was comparatively small by our standards, it was a challenge nonetheless as we had to work in conjunction with the film crew in addition to sometimes working around the clock to fit in with other peoples schedules to complete the project on time.
“However, the local community were amazing and would even drop by in the middle of the night to make us a cup of tea and a sandwich.
“The look on their faces when the Dragons arrived to formally hand over the refurbished centre made all the hard work worthwhile.”
The program was broadcast twice during the Children in Need live event on BBC 1 on 20 November.
