Construction industry grew at fastest rate for five months according to survey by Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.

A survey conducted by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply shows that an increase in the speed of growth in the construction sector in September. The CIPS Purchasing Managers’ Index, rose to a seasonally-adjusted 56.8, from 55.8 in August. It marks the 68th consecutive month about 50.0 ‘no change’ mark, and is the fastest increase for five months.

The report said that the industry was still beleaguered by high production costs as oil prices continue to rise, suggesting that firms were stockpiling materials to guard against future problems.
