Safety violations are suspected at site after excavation collapse leaves 20-year-old dead

A 20-year-old construction worker was killed yesterday in New York state.

The man was working on an excavation site when it collapsed. Crews took almost six hours to reach the body and remove it from an 8ft-deep hole.

The incident is under investigation by Saratoga County authorities, but newspaper the Times Union reported this morning that violations were present at the site and that officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration have also begun an investigation.
