Constructionline, the public-private partnership that runs an approved list of contractors and consultants, is offering 10% discounts to trade bodies in exchange for official endorsement.

The public-private partnership between the DETR and Capita is offering cut-price subscription renewals to members of the 13 trade bodies that pledged to endorse Constructionline by last month.

The list of trade bodies includes the RIBA, the Association of Consulting Engineers and the National Federation of Builders. It does not include the RICS or the Heating and Ventilation Contractors Association. A spokesperson for Constructionline said it had been unable to conclude negotiations with these bodies when it sent out invoices with renewal forms.

The spokesperson said: "Once an agreement with these organisations has been finalised, any members wishing to join Constructionline will be offered the discount and those members registered on Constructionline will be given either a credit for their fee or an extension to the registration period." Constructionline is also offering discounts of closer to 20% to members of three trade associations. This is part of a pilot scheme in which it is devolving responsibility for the technical assessment of some categories.
