Firm headed by former Sweett and WYG boss Douglas McCormick

The consultant headed up by former Gleeds executive director Douglas McCormick is set to formally launch a new building surveying team.

The nine-strong business is being headed by James Pitt, a former Gleeds director, who arrived at Pegasus in the autumn.

Several other Gleeds staffers have also moved across to Pegasus with the building surveying team due to be formally launched in the coming weeks.

The firm has recently hired another former Gleeds staffer to head up its public sector work.

David Mohring has arrived from G&T, where he was a partner, and before that was director of strategic growth at Gleeds.

Douglas McCormick joined Pegasus as chief executive last summer

McCormick started at Pegasus last summer with the firm, a multidisciplinary which specialises in planning, moving into a new office in London’s West End in October.

It employs around 600 people and has a turnover of £60m.

McCormick, who joined Gleeds at the start of 2020 as the executive chair of its UK business, left the firm along with Steve Mason – brought in to lead the firm’s operations in London – at the end of 2023.

McCormick was previously chief executive of Sweett in 2015, the listed consultant that was bought by Currie & Brown for £29m in 2016.

He joined WYG, which was also listed, in 2017, leaving after it was bought for £43m by US rival Tetra Tech two years later.
