Firm to upgrade baggage handling facilities

Costain is back working at Heathrow in nearly a decade after landing work to revamp facilities including baggage handling at the airport.

The firm finished work on an asset management contract at Heathrow in 2013 but he is now back working at the country’s busiest airport with an early contractor involvement deal in the design phase of the upgrade of baggage handling facilities and security systems at Terminal 2 which is expected to cost over £1bn.

Costain won the £35m job through Heathrow’s Terminal Asset Renewal Partner and Major Project Partner framework.

Heathrow’s chief solutions officer Helen Elsby said: “We have bold plans to improve Heathrow over the next four years [and] we’re pleased to welcome Costain back to Heathrow.”
