Specialist construction group Dew Pitchmastic has logged record results for the fourth year in a row.

The Sheffield-based company saw pre-tax profit for the year to 31 December 1998 rise 38% to £2.2m on turnover up 19% to £87.9m.

Chairman Hugh Grayson put the group’s growth down to the improved economic climate and the performance of its three divisions. Turnover in its specialist construction arm grew 18% to £79.2m, with pre-tax profit up 23% to £1.36m.

PmB Structural Waterproofing wiped out a £250 000 loss in the previous 12 months to record a pre-tax profit of £25 000 on turnover up 52% to £2.73m. The Leisure Building and Lodge Holidays arm made a 13% increase in profit before tax to £807 000.

Grayson added: “We have no intention of joining the current bandwagon of construction companies offering cleaning, lowly skilled maintenance and other non-specialist services. We have always been wary of the cyclical nature of multifaceted construction and by applying our skills across a number of target markets, we limit our vulnerability to individual market weaknesses.”
