The 140 ha scheme links the city to the coast and includes a waterfront edge featuring an island, a beach and two sections of quayside. The mixed-use development behind will eventually provide housing, office, retail and leisure facilities centred on two main urban squares and a high street. The plans were commissioned in May by client Waterfront Edinburgh, a joint venture between Edinburgh council and development agency Scottish Enterprise.
