Fatal fire caused by burning construction material according to police chief

The fatal fire in a 37-storey block at Jumeirah Lake Towers in Dubai has been blamed on human error, according to Gulf News.

The likley cause of the fire, in which four people died and about 60 were injured, was burning construction materials according to Brigadier Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, director of the country’s Civil Defence.

Chief of police general Dahi Khalfan Tamim told Gulf News that the fire was due to human error.

Developer Fortune Tower has been ordered to pay compensation amounting to 12 years’ salary to those killed and the severely injured workers’ families.

Among the injured were 30 Indian migrant workers.
