AN Ernst & Young-led consortium is to advise the Irish government on its £10bn public-private partnership rail projects.
The consortium, which also includes WS Atkins, has been appointed by the Department of Public Enterprise to develop the PPP. The work will involve deciding on the number and type of contracts, procurement and taking the schemes to market.

The projects include rail developments outlined in the recently published Dublin Transportation Office strategy A Platform for Change.

This includes plans for additional light rail lines, metro proposals, the Dublin Area Rapid Transit and heavy rail projects.

Ernst & Young PFI director Will McWilliams said: "PPP is new in Ireland so we are working with the Irish government to understand what it is trying to achieve and encapsulate that in a policy." Other members of the consortium include public policy and economic adviser Fitzpatrick Associates.
