Architect EDAW will draw up regneration framework for Essex town with Buro Happold and Gardiner and Theobald.

Architect EDAW has been appointed to draw up regeneration plans for Thurrock in Essex, kickstarting government plans to build a city the size of Leeds to the east of London.

The Thurrock Urban Development Corporation has selected the group to draw up regeneration framework report, which will look at increasing housing supply, job creation and the environment.

Will McKee, chair of Thurrock UDC, said: “The development of a regeneration framework of Thurrock is the first step in driving the transformation of the borough.”

EDAW principal consultant Sandra Roebuck said: “Turrock is full of possibilities and we look forward to harnessing these to ensure Thurrock is the beating heart of a reinvigorated riverside region.”

The framework will take four months to complete and is working with several other parties, including Buro Happold for transport and engineering advice and Gardiner and Theobald for cost consultancy.
