The first major redevelopment of the Elephant & Castle area in south London is being undertaken by Oakmayne Properties and is due for completion next year.
Elegant Elephant
Its £75m South Central scheme for 280 apartments and live-work units is spread around five contemporary buildings on either side of the railway viaduct. The picture shows the western scheme, designed by Space Craft Architects. It consists of two elongated buildings on either side of a traffic-free boulevard. The eastern scheme designed by Piers Gough of CZWG Architects has a dramatically sloping roof and is under construction by John Sisk & Sons.
