A £60m chemistry research facility designed by RMJM has just been finished at the University of Oxford. The 15,750 m2 building contains 48 laboratories and 384 fume cupboards. Its 500 researchers will be able to write up their reports in natural light as the labs are arranged around the perimeter of the building. Laing O'Rourke Midlands was the contractor, with Faber Maunsell as structural and services engineer. Arup Facade Engineering was cladding consultant and Turner & Townsend was cost consultant.
