Terry Farrell and Partners submitted initial hospital plan to Westminster City Council last week.

The team behind the £800m new hospital in Paddington has appointed architect Terry Farrell and Partners as a masterplanner for the new site configuration planned for the scheme.

An initial plan was submitted by the architect to Westminster City Council last week for initial comment. The Paddington Health Campus team also said it had formed a collaboration agreement with the Chelsfield-owned Paddington Development Corporation to explore in detail using the land north of the Grand Union Canal for part of the new hospital scheme.

A statement from the team released last Friday said: “Initial review suggests that using land north of the canal could offer advantages in terms of build time, site configuration and minimising the disruption to the operation of the existing St Mary’s hospital during construction.”

The announcements came two days after a damning review into the scheme, which called into question the future of the project, which has increased in value from £360m to £800m in the last four years.
