Cost consultant Hive Projects set up in 2020
Two Arcadis directors have joined the leadership team of a start-up cost consultant based in Manchester.
Chris Waine and Kevin Breen joined Hive Projects as directors last month, working alongside the firm’s three other directors and co-founders.
Both Waine and Breen worked at Arcadis’ Manchester office and will stay in the city in their new roles.
Waine’s new role follows 19 years at Arcadis, where he was appointed a director in 2017. Breene spent more than 10 years at Arcadis and was appointed director in 2020 following stints as an associate director and senior cost advisor.
Hive works in the property, construction and healthcare sectors across the North West, and has seen its headcount increase fivefold since being set up in 2020 while its turnover doubled to £1m in its second year.
Its clients include Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care Foundation Trust, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, Stockport council and Oldham council.
The firm is also working as part of a multidisciplinary team developing the outline business case for a £600m hospital in Leeds. The scheme’s original architect, BDP, was dropped from the high profile job in September last year and replaced by Perkins & Will, the runner up in the competition to design the project.
