Jeremy Beeton was a former senior vice-president at American construction giant

A former Bechtel engineer has been appointed to represent the government in the delivery of the 2012 Olympics.

Jeremy Beeton will take up the post of director general in the government’s Olympic Executive next month, according to reports.

Beeton was formerly a senior vice president at the US construction firm.

He will effectively act as the client for the Olympic Deliver Authority. Bechtel were tipped to become chief consultant on the games delivery but the CLM consortium was instead selected by the ODA.

The government Olympic Executive sits in the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, and is responsible for delivering the legacy of the Games across government departments.
