Former DL colleagues Iain Parker and Paul Morrell among those paying tribute

Former Davis Langdon partner Erland Rendall has died. He was 54.

It is understood Rendall passed away on New Year’s Day while out cycling.

Former colleague Iain Parker, who left Davis Langdon after it was bought by Aecom to help set up Alinea, said: “Erland was a dear friend and someone I put a lot of trust in. He always wanted to help others, a very selfless person.

Erland Rendall joined Davis Langdon in 1995

“He was passionate about innovation and trying to find ways to move the industry forward, whether that was on a corporate level or mentoring an individual. He had an infectious sense of humour and the day always seemed to be more fun when he was around. He will be missed by many.”

And former Davis Langdon senior partner Paul Morrell added: “He was a good soul. He was the first person I knew, or the first one I noticed, who was happy working on computer drawings without printing them out, leading me to think ‘Hello, the Game Boy generation has arrived at work’.”

Rendall joined Davis Langdon in 1995 as a project surveyor, later becoming a partner and then helped set up its business in Abu Dhabi where he worked on the Cleveland Clinic hospital scheme. Other jobs he worked on during his time at Davis Langdon was the McLaren headquarters development in Woking.

After Aecom bought Davis Langdon, he was then made head of global thought leadership at the enlarged business before he left in 2012 to set up Atorus Consult.

He is survived by his wife Jackie and three children Rachel, Jonathan and Molly.
