New arrival tasked with expanding regional contractor’s business
Former Bovis boss Simon Gorski has joined regional contractor Stepnell as managing director of its construction business.
Gorski was in charge of Bovis’s construction business, then known as Lendlease, when it was put for sale by its Australian parent more than two years ago.
He left Lendlease in summer 2024 after two decades at the firm and initially set up a consultancy business.
Stepnell said he will be based in the firm’s Rugby head office and would be tasked with “pursuing significant market opportunities and regional expansion over the next five years”.
Gorski added: “Through my extensive central government framework experience, there is a fantastic opportunity to elevate Stepnell’s capability and track record across the public sector nationally.”
The firm opened its seventh office at Exeter earlier this year and in its latest set of results posted a turnover of £150m for the year to March and a pre-tax profit of £2.8m. The firm said it expected revenue to grow by 20% this year.
Stepnell Group chief executive Tom Wakeford said: “Simon shares our belief that growth must be controlled and sustainable while remaining true to our Stepnell values. We want to continue to be selective with our projects, communicate honestly on budgets and solve complex construction challenges for our clients.”
