Paul Maguire left firm last summer after five years at contractor

Former McGee commercial director Paul Maguire has rejoined the demolition and groundworks specialist as a non-executive director.

Maguire spent five years at McGee as commercial director before leaving last August, having joined from Multiplex in 2020 where he was commercial finance director.

In a post on LinkedIn, Maguire said he was now starting up again at the firm in a non-executive role.

His arrival comes after operations director Bernard O’Reilly last week said he had become managing director for the business, replacing incumbent Seb Fossey who leaves this autumn.

O’Reilly, who has been at the firm more than 14 years, added: “I look forward to continuing the legacy and further strengthening our position in the market as a specialist engineering contractor.”

Fossey joined McGee in 2017 from Laing O’Rourke and became the firm’s managing director two years later.

In its last set of accounts McGee, which is understood to be frontrunner for the enabling and basement works package on a mixed-use set over four levels below Cavendish Square Gardens in London’s West End, saw turnover rise a quarter to £151m. But pre-tax profit the year to November 2024 fell from £12.4m to £5.3m.
