Stellar architects are part of two consortiums bidding to extend Monaco into the sea

The final two bidders vying for a contract to build Monaco’s proposed land extension into the sea, have been revealed.

The principality announced that the Monte Carlo Development Company, a consortium which includes British architects Foster and Partners, and Monte Carlo Sea Land, which includes American architect Daniel Libeskind, are the preferred bidders for the project.

The final two were singled out from five groups which originally submitted proposals to HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. Each of the preferred bidders was reportedly selected because they met the exact specifications set out by the Principality, including explanations of how the fragile marine environment was to be protected.
