Switch takes place this week

Galliford Try is set to be admitted to the FTSE 250 index of the country’s biggest quoted companies later this week.

The firm, which earlier this month said contractor said pre-tax profit more than doubled to £44m in the year to June on turnover up 6% to £1.9bn, is being promoted from the FTSE Small Cap Index.

It replaces investor Henderson European Trust which has completed a merger with rival Fidelity.

Last year, Kier returned to the FTSE 250 whose other members include Balfour Beatty, ground engineer Keller and housebuilder Taylor Wimpey.
